Default 300 Merc Verado vibration

I recently acquired a new to me boat and it has a 2020 300 Verado on it. I am getting a significant vibration from 2000 to 3000 RPM's. Enough to shake the seats. I suspect its the prop as it has some slight visible damage but Dealer and manufacturer are telling me this is normal for the 300 and its "something I'm gonna have to learn to live with". I find it hard to believe this amount of vibration would be considered normal and suspect they don't want to address the prop issues they failed to tell me about prior to me driving 12 hours to pick it up. Funny thing is when I called him about it he was aware of the damage.

Can anyone comment on if they are seeing the same thing on their 300 Verado?

I am planning on having the prop repaired regardless but I kinda feel like I am being given lip service at this point and don't really care for it.

I am not, a good prop shop can fix it and balance it.

Yes, also one other thing that can cause it if not the prop itself is if the spindle got tweaked from what ever caused the damage but that would be the wort case scenario. If that were the case around $1500 or so to have a show change it and the seals or under $500 if you do it yourself with new seals.

I would for sure check the prop shaft for runout. Your dealer may have been trying to get out of an expensive fix. Doesn't sound normal to me, could be, but I have never had an engine vibrate where there wasn't something wrong. I would think though, that if the shaft was bent, it would vibrate at higher rpm also.

Thanks for the feedback, shaft run out is .004 at the end. I was unable to find a spec but figured that was pretty good considering how far the shaft hangs out there.

Not necessarily, the prop can amplify it.

X2.

Prop or gearcase, one of the two (or both) is damaged and causing your issue.
