Old lure ID assistance needed

A co-worker inherited a bunch of old tackle from his great uncle, and asked me what was in there. I've got them all identified now but one. Anyone recognize this?

It looks Hula Popper-ish, but I've not seen that metal conical tail on a Hula Popper.

The lure is at work right now. If no one identifies it by tomorrow, I'll take a picture from the front and add it.

I don't remember seeing this one with relation to the Arbogast line, my guess is that it is a short lived creation of some other manufacturer. I have a number of old tackle books, will look for it when I get a chance,and if no one else has come up with it. Sometime these old baits can be worth a bunch to a collector, but just because it is old does not automatically make it super valuable.

Homer - I did a pictorial search through my antique lure books, and in my opinion didn't come up with anything even close to the picture. When/if you find out the manufacturer, please share with us. There were many small-time lure makers in the early/mid 1900's who never sold enough baits to have them appear in collectors' reference books; this is not always a good thing, from a sellers view, in that the demand (selling price) for such baits can be minimal.

It is an AIREX FROG POP IT, from the 1950s. Airex was known for their tackle, especially their reels. John

Luredaddy is correct. This is a lure manufactured by Airex out of NY around 1952. According to Karl White's book, Fishing Antiques and Collectibles, the lure name is a "Hoppie" and was valued at around $5.00 in his 1993 publication. Although it may not be very valuable, it is a cool looking lure and it would be hanging with the rest of my collection if I had one.
