Default Question about trim tabs

Just wondering if you can put on trim tabs on a 619 ranger with a kicker motor on it.

I suggest that you speak to each of the trim tab companies that you are considering and ask them.

Normally you need about a foot of installation space on the back of the transom on both the port and starboard sides reasonably close to the gunnels for the best effect with the tabs.

Take care

check out zipwake, you don’t need the space they deploy straight down they work much faster and they have a neat system to do self adjusting if you want.

Holy crap that's an expensive system. Looks like you would lose speed with them too. Also looks like the market is for larger offshore rigs.

Actually less drag than traditional tabs, Ranger has moulded a pocket for them and offering them as a factory option.

I needed some "lift" on the stern of my fiberglass hull to counter act the porpoising I was experiencing. I did not whish to have trim tabs extending beyond the hull. I did not need adjustability in the amount of lift gained, once I had determined just how much was needed.

I used thickened epoxy to create a "hook" in the hull bottom. The thickened epoxy is bonded to the original fiberglass and is now a permanent part of the hull. The "hook" provides lift to the stern of the hull in the same manner as a non-adjustable trim tab would provide.

The picture is just a mock up of the epoxy on a small piece of scrap to test both the bond and the desired hardness of the thickened cure epoxy. NOTE; the wedge height is mislabeled, it should read 5/16 inch.

Going this route may not be for you, but it has worked extremely well for me in my situation.
