Default terrova covers cracking/breaking

have a 2017 ranger 1880 with terrova 80lb. have broken two sets of side cover plates at the base now. They are breaking at the bosses in the plastic where the screws go in. What is wrong?

Trolling motor is secured tight to hull, but now have cracked my second set of covers.

After first set broke, minnkota sent another set without any hesitation and was excellent customer service. Just disappointed second set is broke and have to believe others have had this issues.

It’s mounted directly to the boat as received from the dealer. I’m going to give them a call next.

If the covers are on the deck and carrying weight they will breakout at the mounting bolts to the motor.

Are there rubbed spacers between the motor and the boat?

Lunker, I’ll need to look closer but I don’t believe th covers carry any weight as I can remove and install the without any bind or fitup issues beteen them and the top Fiberglas deck. Seems they are only covers holding themselves on.

There are rubber washers clamped between the trolling motor base and top deck as provided by minnkota, wondering if they are allowing some flex in the base causing the covers to crack.

How many bolts hold the motor? Are there bolts at the front edge of the motor?
