Lake of the Woods to host championship event

NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. (January 3, 2018) - The Cabela's National Walleye Tour (NWT) announces registration for the 2018 season is now open for competitive walleye anglers. The 2018 season will include three regular-season events and a championship, all nationally televised and taking place on some of the country's premier walleye fisheries at peak times.

The regular season kicks off May 10-11, 2018, on the Mississippi River at Red Wing, Minnesota. NWT anglers will probe the walleye-rich waters of pools 3, 4 and 5, which are known to produce big fish. The NWT will move on to Saginaw Bay at Bay City, Michigan, on June 14-15. This is the NWT's first stop at Saginaw Bay and is timed to coincide with walleye staging in the Inner Bay and should make for heavy tournament limits.

The NWT will finish the regular season by returning to Devils Lake in North Dakota on July 26-27. The 200,000-acre lake is renowned for its numbers and versatility. NWT anglers will be tested on this ever-changing and interesting body of water. The NWT will wrap the season on September 5-7 with the NWT 2018 Tour Championship on Lake of the Woods at Baudette, Minnesota. The huge body of water is affectionately known as the Walleye Capital of the Word and will also determine the Pro- and Co-Anglers of the Year.

The Cabela's National Walleye Tour includes unmatched television and media coverage, allowing a national audience to watch the action unfold from each event throughout the season. Airing on multiple networks, the NWT will be seen on the Pursuit Channel, CBS Sports Network, Fox Sports Net North, NBC SportsNet Chicago and the World Fishing Network.
