Default Blend Oil VS Full Syn

I know this has been asked , but cannot locate the right thread.

Have a 2016 Mercury 115 4-stroke. Ready for a oil change first 2 were Mercury 25W40. Going to use Amsoil
and am a big full syn fan for everything. I know Amsoil now makes a 25W40 blend, The Full Syn is 10W30 or
10W40. What is the best or right one to pick.

Or is Lucas Marine a option?

Thanks

Definitely pick the correct viscosity over oil type! There are allot of cases and applications where blends actually outperform full synthetics in wear tests. It's a synergistic/solubility issue with the additives and higher viscosity full synthetics. Adding conventional oils to them make the additives work better.

Mercury does NOT recommend full synthetics. Always best to check owners manual and consider warranty if you still have it.

Bloodman is correct. The Mercury manual call for 25W40 synthetic blend. If as you say, Amsoil makes a 25W40 synthetic blend, it sounds like you have exactly what you need available in the correct viscosity and the correct blend.

Why not just use the Mercury oil?

Just because there is a little "rebel" in all of us?

Talking amsoil

Use it in my vehicles and mowers for years. Never had a issue. If I knew who made the oil for Mercury I might continue to use it.

And it's outside the norm.

I'm follow the Mercury manual on the oils. My mechanic told me the Quicksilver oil is the same as Mercury. The recommended viscosity is important. The Quicksilver is packaged that way so it can be sold by other retailers.
Have a great day.

My 2016, 115 merc 4 stroke calls for 10w30. I use Quicksilver. My mechanic also says it's the same as Mercury. I just changed mine. $60 for oil and filter.
