Default Line question

I've been over-thinking on a line change and cant land on a choice. I typically have three rods set ups in the shed, Leadcore rigs, line counters mono(20lb XL) and bottom bouncer spinning set ups, at times these bottom bouncer rods are used for night slip bobbering.
Last open water season I started running harness's on snap weights suspended. Id like to make my line counter/mono trolling rods more multi purpose, currently they are used for long lining cranks for the most part, I am thinking I can set them up better fitted for suspended snap weight use.

Question is what line is going to get me in that area for both, snap weights with spinner harness's as well as snap weight stick baits.

Any thoughts much appreciated.

If you plan to use precision trolling numbers you will want line .013" in diameter. 10# XT is, but there are other lines with that diameter that will work the same. Bob

I troll harnesses also and have six rods set up with Sunline super natural 16# test. Overkill yes, but I take a lot of family, friends, and kids out and they get exited and the heavier mono won't tear the hook out like braid does. 3300 yards spool for $50.

If you want to use Precision Trolling info use either 10 pound Berkley XT OR 30 pound Power Pro braid. They give info in their older books using those two lines.

Two primary reasons.... 30lbs braid is similar diameter to 10 lbs XT and, fish are more fun to catch on braid. Guess we could include longevity......braid will outlast several mono re-spools.

X2

10 or 12# XT would be a good choice.

I respectfully disagree with some of the above advice. I use 10# test Power Pro Depth hunter (2# diameter) that has an actual break strength around 14#. That way I can troll and use the same rod with bottom bouncers. The precision trolling guide has dive curves for both 10# mono and 10?4 braid. The power Pro is 10/2 and adds 1 to 2 feet in depth. Because the braid I use use is metered, I do not need line counter reels and my bottom bouncer control is improved as well.

I would go with the 30# power pro braid then use about an 8' seaguar leader in 15# or 20#. tie the leader to the braid with a uni to uni knot. this braid can also be a good choice for cat fish. just another opinion.
