A brushless motor is a much more efficient motor. So,as mentioned above, you get longer run times as well as more power. Also, a motor with brushes can cause sonar interference in varying degrees due to the pwm controller. A brushless motor eliminates that interference potential. Couple that with being quieter, having a brushless motor can be very beneficial.

Heard a rumor on an other site that Minn Kota is coming out with a brush-less motor in the near future. If I was in the market for a new TM, I would wait. Don't know about any other upgrades to this new motor though.

Yes, I would too. A 72" brushless Terrova would be perfect.

Just MO, but after seeing how HB and JO waited and released their live a couple years after Lowrance and Garmin, I am very disappointed in the quality of theirs. It's a distant 3rd in the live sonars.
Now maybe they spend more time developing a brushless motor that is superior to what's available on the market, but history suggests they will again be behind the other companies.

a 72' ghost will be coming out soon, possibly by early summer from what i am hearing

Might be different north of the border, but the innovations of ipilot and link JO is still way ahead of the rest except using a brushless motor. Simple motor switch using the same tech. The other 2 are having plenty of issues with everything except the brushless motor. JMO Bob
