Default Lowrance No Autopilot?

Need help with lost autopilot on my lowrance HDS 9 network.

So I have a Motorguide Xi5 80 with 2 HDS 9 gen 3 and a gps puck. This worked great up until recently. When I hit the autopilot to go straight it would show a bar at top of HDS with direction of travel and power level. Now no bar at top.

I did do the recent upgrades but this was done after the problem started. When I go to settings on the head units they do not show the gps puck but do show a autopilot.

I checked the connection up front but have not crawled under the dash to check those.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

I have the other brand with autopilot but since no help so far I will try. On my brand, autopilot will not work unless I have a gps fix. The ipilot has its own GPS but if you don't have a fix it can't plot out points in front of you and that is how my autopilot functions. You may need to get the GPS up. Bob

If I understand correct, your missing the Autopilot status bar at the top of your screen, correct? Can't remember the exact wording, but give this a try: Pages>Settings>Autopilot. On the right side of the screen there will be a phrase something like Hide Autopilot features/functions (or similar) and it will be turned on. Turn it off and you will have your Autopilot status bar back at the top of your screen again. This gets turned back on whenever you do an update so you have to turn it off again. Hope that's what your talking about! Good luck!

Thanks will try that. Problem also lost the 2nd line on the GPS direction. There is a bar on left side which reads trolling if I touch it, it says no autopilot

I'd try Hawker's suggestion for sure.

I'd also look into trying to re-boot your network connections. You'll need to go into your settings menu, then into Network. I can't remember the exact names of what you're after, but you should see a "device list" tab. Try that one. If your Xi5 doesn't show up there, or your GPS puck/Point1, then they're not connected, and the reason you're not getting the autopilot function is that your NMEA2000 network is not working properly. You can try to do an "auto configure" and see if it will find it. Turn everything on and make sure it's powered up, then start the auto configure. That might do it, if not, then you've got a wiring and/or power problem with your NMEA network.

The other issue could be what Ozark Bob suggested, you don't have a GPS lock with your Xi5. It will still work, but you won't have full autopilot functionality. Is the GPS light (little blue light) on the motor lit up? Does it stay on? Is it flashing? If your Xi5 won't lock onto GPS, the fix is likely to call Motorguide customer service and have them send you a software update dongle for your motor. Should be no charge for that.

Blue light stays on so GPS on MG working.

Looks like no network. Switched fuse 3amp with 3 amp from working side scan still nothing.

Any ideas on how to verify NEMA? Checking for a bad looking connection.

Ok so running wires found some idiot who ran network wiring left a 3 amp inline fuse just before new fuse block
Hmmm don't know why I did that but a blown fuse. Will put a 5 amp there and the 3 amp in block should go.

Next is to install 2 house battery. Power surge must have got it jigging the DR and having to start big gun to chase a snag
