Default Helix Transducer Roostertail

This spring I installed a HB Helix. The bracket for the SI/DI transducer throws A LOT of water up around the motor. How have you remedied this? Thinking of building a flashing just above it to deflect the water outward from the boat. Thanks in advance.

Does it look like this, and did you put the rubber plug in the hole?

If you're getting good readings, don't mess with it. Just put a shield over it as you described. I used a piece of UHMW poly screwed to the top of the ducer mounting board.

I started with the 1197 back in 2008. I had the roostertail and a tough time holding depth on plane.
Did a silicone fill and still not happy. At the advice of a friend I did the Y cable/2d skimmer upgrade and moved my SI transducer up out of harm's way. Did same on my Ranger and would not have it any other way. Now I just shake my head when a boat comes by with water streaming up the transom.

After seeing your post I ordered one. Got it today and installed it. Looks really nice, I bet it will get rid of my rooster tail. Should know in about 4 hours.

After I saw this posted earlier I used the design to make a shield very similiar. Works great. I would have bought the manufactured one but seemed a bit pricey.

thanks all
