Default Cleaning up computers

I know my computer has junk slowing it down, especially at start up. Lots of programs, some free, some for sale that are supposed to fix it up. I've tried both free and $ ones and haven't had much luck. Any recommendations?

Backup important data and then do a complete factory reload of software.

I hear you. Just saw you were on Windows 10.

There is an option to do a reset and "keep my files"

In the windows search window, type reset and then choose the reset with keep my files options.

Good luck fixing your problem.

PS. in all cases, id backup important files first...

Default CCleaner

I use a freeware called CCleaner.

When you load it use the custom selection so you can sort out the other programs that are available like Google Chrome that will load unless you uncheck it.

Have a Mac myself....from time to time I will clear the cookies (manage website data). Yours is a Windows....both Mac and Windows systems has the ability to save the cookies from the websites you visit. That makes going to and fro later quicker. Some times there will be advertisements on your web page browser. Wanting you to look at items that you have search for (thats part of what cookies do).

When I do it on my Mac it will clear anywhere from 4 to 600 cookies. They can and do slow down the ability of the computer to search the web.

Been a long time since I had a windows computer but I know the windows program has the ability to store, and at your discretion, clear the cookies.

Might want to do a search with this search engine on clearing cookies on Windows. https://duckduckgo.com

Don't use yahoo or especially google to search with....they track where you go.

good luck!

Lots of things can slow down your computer, and there are various solutions. Pretty hard to provide solutions without someone looking it over. It could be malware, disk space, unnecessary software, a hardware problem, the list goes on. Lots of young IT guys will help people free or for little money. Know anyone? Someone from work? Friends kid?
