I watched the video and though it is interesting. but I have confidence that my seaguar premier fluro is going to get more hits than mono. even though I have used 65# red power pro line for my leader when I left my leader at home fishing for walleye on Lake Erie. and we seemed to catch just as many fish on the red braid. but if I have confidence in the fluro why not use it. then on the other hand I use pink and 17# mono on my riggers with no leader.

They did not address either wet strength and stretch or UV effects. I use my line wet and in the sun, most of the time. I never experienced more bites with Fluoro, so I doubt visibility is a factor. Fluro needs a properly tied and lubricated knot. The reasons I pay more for fluoro are wet strength( I am a troller) same reason for UV resistance, when fishing light jigs the sinking of fluoro drops the jig without as much swingback toward the rod. JMO Bob

Using a fluoro leader provides a little more stiffness than mono (and a lot more than braid), which can be useful to keep from fouling a lure while casting.

I agree with their assessment of fluro vs braid but it really depends upon which fluro and mono. They both come in stiff and limp varieties. It really depends on application but I do think fluro is more sensitive because it is denser. I also like it in deep water situations drop shotting because it sinks and I have better feel for bottom. I normally run 8 to 10lb braid to fluro leaders. My leaders are often 10-20' pending depth fished. When live bait fishing in clear water, you get more bites with the longer leader. I've tested this over and over. Especially when dragging through the school. Live bait fishing, mono works equally as well as fluro. I like the line to float and bring minnow up slightly.

If you want more stiffness in Mono - simply increase the lb test of the line and it will be stiffer.

No increase in price, no increase in knot issues.
