Default Lowrance HDS-12 Buzzing/Humming Noise

I have a new Lowrance HDS -12 and it makes a buzzing/humming noise. It's not loud but noticeable.
I wonder if the buzzing/humming noise may be from an internal fan for cooling purposes? Am I correct?

Has anyone else experienced this?

Gen-3, Carbon, Live??

My HDS Carbon-16 has a noise similar to an internal cooling fan that I hear on occasion, and heard it occasionally on the two (2) Carbon 12's that I had. Never heard it on the Gen-3's when I had them, but that's been a while back.

Strange....i don't see any venting ports on them, if it was a fan it is just blowing warm air.

I just bought a used hds 10 insight and I'm a little anxious as to it making a noise. I would think this is normal if your hds 12 and his carbon 16 both making a buzzing noise. I've never even been around an hds unit before. I've been using an lcx 38c HD unit I've been using for the last 20+ yrs and I've never heard of a cooling fan in them. they are pretty much a closed unit as they are water-resistant if not waterproof. a cooling fan would be about useless. I would go to their website and contact them and ask if it was normal.

I was thinking the same, if air can get out, water can get in. I only have gen2 Lowrance and Simrad Evo2 units so I'm not 100% sure on anything after.
With the Carbon having dual core and Live with quad core processors it would make sense to have fans. Just don't know how they circulate air, maybe just blow it around to in case radiators.

Older graphs used to have exposed radiators ( Evo2 does too) but i don't see that in the newer designs.
