Default Yamaha F115 Trim motor brush set

Having a heck of a time finding the appropriate brushes for a 2002 F115 Trim motor. I'd just assume clean up the armature and replace the brushes vs replacing the motor itself. Knock offs are around a 120 vs 400+ for an OEM motor.

Thanks for any help

Cal,
You can try one thing.

Take the trim motor to a starter/generator/alternator rebuilding shop. A motor is a motor is a motor.

It is possible that one of these shops could go through the motor for you and take care of its issues.

-------------------------
But, be aware that in many cases, the reason why outboard motor trim motors fail is because of water intrusion. i.e. the water gets into the motor shorts things out and buggers the bearings as well as possibly shorting out the windings.

It is possible that brushes may fix the problem, if - when you disassemble the motor you find that the brushes are really worn down.

But, in reality, it is more likely that something else, or elses are wrong with the motor.

You may very well be time and money ahead by purchasing an after market trim motor for your motor.

Remember, electrical motors are normally good for thousands of hours of trouble free service. I would seriously doubt that you would have much more than 100 hours on an outboard motor trim motor.

You might check with these folks:

If they have a trim/tilt motor that will fit your outboard, the cost will likely be in the $100 range.
