Default Which Is Worse???

Food that is supposed to be hot served cold?

Food that is supposed to be cold served warm?

After last weekend at friends and relatives that summed up my dining experience of home cooking.

At least the company was good!!!

Depends on the food, but cold food served warm (potato salad, devilled eggs) could generate multiple trips to the bathroom. Hot served warm has likely reached a safe temp previous to being warm.

I don’t eat most food at pot luck type events. Unless I know who exactly prepared the food, it is better for me mental health to go hungry or eat store bought food.

Many moons ago, the Camping Editor for Sports Afield Magazine, Job Johnson, was asked what makes a great cook(besides fixing a tasty meal). His answer was the cook's ability to serve all food items hot(those which are supposed to be served hot) at the same time. I have tried to adhere to this philosophy at all events for which I partake.

My personal preference for switching, ala the question, is I prefer a pasta salad that which is traditionally served cold, to be hot on my plate, otherwise it is a struggle to gulp it down.

My great grandfather immigrated from Germany and my grandmother carried on his tradition of serving "wildcat" at holidays. That's raw hamburger on rye with onions and spices. Had pleanty of it when I was a kid. Yeah, don't do that anymore.
