Default My favorite KAZ joke!

Reading this tournament board always makes me think of my favorite Bob "Kaz" Kazcowski (MWC) joke:

What is the difference between a tournament fisherman and a puppy?

When a puppy grows up, it quits whining:)

Sure miss KAZ, he did an awesome job!

He used to say when he was a kid he was immunized with a phonagraph needle.
The "don't be a stranger drive a ranger" was pretty annoying.
He had some joke about the stashue of liberty but can't remember how it went.

Didn't always agree with "Kaz" but you always new where he was coming from. He was the best. Treated the needs of the sponsors and the needs of the fishermen as equal. At least that's how I felt. Was it easier then or did he understand more? Maybe a little of both. As far as the one liners go, you couldn't help but to smile!

My partner got off a couple 1 liners that made the crowd laugh. Kas covered over the mic and says, " I do the jokes around here." And I laugh even now thinking about it.

Kaz was the driving force in the early years of the MWC. When he came back after selling it the MWC and became the stage MC and public face he was awesome! Funny, knowledgeable and downright nice to all. Sad day when he was pushed out.

The MWC needs a presence like KAZ to breath life into it. Right now it is very dull and the folks who run it are quite patronizing to the anglers who participate.

YEP! I too miss BEV AND KAZ. But things change.
I hope all is well with them. I always laugh when I see some of the post on here and think about what he would say.

He said if you pay money your a professional fisherman, wow how things have changed.

The very first tournament I fished was MILLE LACS, Izatys many moooooooon ago I believe there was 264 boats, the biggest motor was a 75 give or take, and it was a shot gun start. Those were the days.

I still remember Slipbobber at the championship at Prarie du Chien a few years ago. When thay were handing out the awards at the dinner he had his partner Rod on one side and Kaz on the other. During his comments he said, "Here I stand, between a Rod and a Pole." That got a rise from the crowd.

I was in junior high when my dad, Dick Solis, first started fishing the MWC with some young buck named Terry Mayhall. My mom, sister and I went to almost every tournament and in my last few years of college my dad and I fished the MWC as a father/daughter team. (Now I just spend too many hours at the office and my dad spends his retirement hunting ducks, fishing for anything that will bite...he's a favorite at the local carp tourney...and playing poker)

At Kaz's last tournament Carol Nelson came up to me at the rules meeting and asked if I would go on stage and tell a funny story about Kaz. I said sure...but a few minutes later realized I couldn't think of a funny story...so I made one up...I still have the speech I scribbled that night on scrap paper. This should bring back some memories for all the old timers!

Twas the night before the last tournament and all through Lake City, the talk was about the Kazcowski's 15 year journey.

Everyone thought the fishermen were all nestled snug in their beds, with visions of 10 pound walleyes running through their heads.

With Bev in her kerchief and Kaz in his cap, they just settled down for a good September nap.

When out on the law arose such a clatter, Kaz sprang from the bed to see what was the matter. When what to his wondering eyes should appear, but a great big new Ranger 620, powered by a Mercury Optimax I might add, filled with fishermen with cheers.

They said Kaz and Bev, boy have you put on a show, from sunshine to rain, through wind and through snow.

You've been there for the fishermen on the bottom and the fishermen on top. Then Kaz shouted back, "Well what did you expect from a former Milwaukee cop? I named Mr. Walleye & Big Fish Kincade & boy don't those Keenan boys love those Lindy Hatchet Blades!"

Then without a pause the fishermen chimed in. You've created the only conservation fund, the finest there has ever been, and because of this all fishermen win. Because of your dedication the sport has evolved. The use of electronics and planer boards, 10 years ago, not even a thought. We've found walleyes in great lakes, and on rivers in little holes. Once again Kaz jumped in..."And don't forget the American flag flies from a Pole!"

And then it was the fishermens turn again- You've listened to us grumble about the rules and the bite. You've taken our complaints in the middle of the night.

But now the time has come for you and Bev to head down south, where the golf course is always green and the fish don't have teeth in their mouths.

Then Bev turned to Kaz with tears in her eyes and said, "Now wasn't that a nice surprise?"

Then Kaz turned to Bev and said, "Eh, it's better than a sharp stick in the eye!"
