Default Glendo June 23-24

Been camping here and looking at rocks (Iím a geologist) for the past couple of days. I fished from shore early morning and late evening at night at Red Hills campground and didnít hook anything. Today I rented a boat at Rochaís. They only have pontoons, but I needed to get to some outcrops that I canít access otherwise. So, just me on my Ranger pontoon for 8 hours today. I didnít even know Ranger MADE pontoons!

I brought my fishing gear alongÖjust in case.
The morning was spectacular and I saw lots of great stuff. I wonít bore you with it all. But here are some cool Jurassic ripple marks, about 160 million years old.

there were also some of these, footprints from a dinosaur like Allosaurus:

I found a beach ball washed up and also one of these snagged in the rocks.

As the day went on, it got hotter and I saw boats trolling by, hooking up once in awhile. I also started noticing these.

So with an hour to go before the boat was due back, I started trolling a Glendo special (perch Shad rap) just to see what would happen.

The first one came fast. Not much size, but hey, Iím not one to complain.
Then two more by 4:59 pm.

Little, but a fish is a fish, and since I was only futzing around at the end of the day, I count these as bonus walleye to an already awesome day. Dawn at Rochaís texted right after this photo to let me know that Nick would be there to meet me at the ramp when I bring the boat back. Taking the polite hint, I headed over and was there in about 2 minutes. Thanks to Dawn and everyone at Rochaís for arranging my last minute boat rental and for the awesome service and friendliness.
I hear the usual pattern is kicking in, so dragging crawler harnesses and cranks is working. These guys were all in 8-15í of water, close to shore.
Good luck if you make a trip here! Itís one of my favorite places on earth.

I am late to the game but as Harley mentioned, I enjoyed your report. Cool find of the tracks, I never would have recognized them for what they are.

Sounds like a successful trip! Need to meet you there one day. I'll show you the fish and you show me the cool geology.

Saw where Glendo is already as low as last October when I was there. dropped 20ft in last 30 days. I plan on going in late September those eyes will be easier to find all stacked up.

We went over the weekend. I stayed on shore due to a physical injury, but I was shocked how much it dropped over the last couple of weeks. The only dock was at the marina. Probably as low as I've seen it.

Iíll be hauling the olí Ranger 680T up there next spring/summer sometime. Probably May or June. Most likely stay at Reno Cove (my usual haunt). Iíll post up ahead of time if anyone cares to swing by and say ďHeyĒ, talk fishing, chase fish, or look at rocks.
