Default Real Magic, ya or nay?

While cleaning and getting ready to get out fishing I found a bottle of Real Magic.
Any body have any thoughts on whether this stuff works or not on mono??

I bought a bottle a few yrs ago and was going to use it but I never got around to trying it. I change line every yr so it doesn't have a chance to get real bad. but I believe anything thats slick you put on your line will help casting distance. go ahead and try it and get back to us and let us know if it works.

I was kind of hoping for some who had used it, trying to avoid the trial and error part.

i'm sorry I couldn't have been more help on the line lube. maybe someone who has used it will chime in.but you already have the stuff so it wont cost you anything to try it. but I understand your reluctance to put it on your line and just maybe make a mess.

if I run across the can I bought I may give it a try. but I have braid on most of my reels. I have trilene xl 8# on my trolling reels I use on our local lake. I have the same on my reels I use for drifting for crappie on the same lake. my bass spinning reels have braid as do my lake erie reela

Thanks all, read the posted link REW, nothing definite.

Maybe I'll hit a reel or two, will only use it on the line as I have my own preference for lubing and oiling.

It's just cheap ole standard dimethyl silicone. Nothing "magic" about it at all. About 5% silicone fluid in ISOPAR solvent. Probably costs about $10 per GALLON to manufacture.

I've used reel magic and it works for me. Noticed a lot less twists and coiling when using mono. Remember to spray the guides too. Do it the night before a trip and in the morning. Small investment to see if it works for you.

Not sure if it helps any, but it didn't hurt. I picked up a can a few years ago and treated a handful of spools - didn't notice much of a difference - if any. I even applied it at four different points during the respooling process to ensure coverage. Now that I think about it, I haven't bothered with it since.

The next spring, the re-treated spools still had minor memory issues as normal (Trilene XL, Ande premium)

Works OK for cleaning the reel (usually use WD40 for that anyway).
