Default To those retired

To all of you lucky guys that have retired, how did your last 2 years go by on the job? Did everyday seem like a month?

Not really,
I think it was because I loved the job and the people I was working with..
I do know for sure that I wouldn't want to be starting over today and thats for sure!!!

Default burn out

I was lucky in the fact that I was past my rule of retirement and could go at any time if I needed to. I was sooo burned out of doing the same thing everyday I couldn't wait for the golden hour. However, that being said, I absolutely loved my coworkers and enjoyed the social aspect of going to work every day. There are good and bad aspects to everything in life. But to answer your question, the time actually flew by just in knowing the fact I could have walked out at anytime. Hope that makes sense.

The last year was brutal, thankful that it went by quickly. I just bit my tongue and smiled at people.

Smile last 2 years before retirement

I had a fun job & enjoyed most of my time at work. I was lucky & the company let me go to three days a week for my last year. For me, it was always like a big game. I had originally planned to work another year but I went to work one day & realized it was time. I turned in 30 days notice & worked up to & including my retirement date. Haven't looked back & am enjoying retired life. I have to admit, I'm ready for spring fishing. Enough winter already.

I worked with great people, many of whom I respected and would take fishing if they ever made the trek to where I am headed. Had a countdown app on my phone and didn’t really look at it very often, focused more on making sure I was handing off as much of my 40 years of industry experience as others valued.

If you have a well crafted plan for the coming change just relax and the time will fly by.

Retirement is not over-rated.

I'm in the same boat. Was planning on retiring in 6 yrs I think about retirement a lot. The company I work for announced we would be closing the plant I work at in roughly 3 years. Still not many details I new this day would come within the next 5 yrs. The 6 yr goal marks my 60th bday. So I will be shy but looking forward I work at a power plant and were open 365 7/24 currently 32 yrs in the business. Looking forward to no weekends, holidays and no more night shifts. I enjoy my job and most the co-workers but admit I'm getting burned out.

I retired on July 1st 2018 at 64 from a job I loved. I was a service tech for the largest beverage company in the world. In a different store seeing new faces every working day. I live in a small
town and there is no one to do small odd jobs for people so I stay quite busy. Don't know how I ever found time to go to work. Plan on fishing the non windy days this spring and wife and I are planning a 2 month 5th wheel trip to Alaska this summer. An older fella once told me to never
leave this earth with a whole bunch of " what ifs"

Loving every minute of it.
