Default Dinger Baits

I had an air brush as a kid. I am thinking about refreshing my skills to paint lures. Anyone have any experience building Dinger Baitís Wally DD bodies? They look good in the pictures online.

At $12.00 each for customs, it will not only be fun, but also a financial bonus.

I checked those out. For the price, once you put hooks and rings on them, I'd rather buy a real Bandit to refinish. You can get them on sale for around $5 and they're already tuned for the most part.

Good point. I see now they sell a clear one. I will probably do that when they go on sale.

Out of curiosity, I ended up ordering some Dinger Deep Walleye Blanks. They are incredibly close to a Bandit. Like nearly identical.

I will post some comparison pictures in the morning when I get into my office. I painted up a couple tonight also. If the epoxy is dry, I will post some pictures of those as well. I plan to run them in Erie on Wednesday to see how they do.

for all you guys that paint your own, here is the Dinger Baits Walleye DD to a Bandit lure comparison . I really think they are worth taking a look at. At less than $3.00 each, it might make sense to add more lures to your box. You will have probably $1.00+ in hooks and slip rings, but that still makes for a very affordable custom.

You will notice they are molded milky white and not clear. For most paint applications, I think this would be fine. The dimensions are nearly identical. Only noticeable differences are the gill plates are more defined on the Dinger and the lip on the Dinger is not as thick at the tip. A 6mm eye fits the Dinger perfect.

I hope to run a couple tomorrow out on Lake Erie to see how well they go through the water. The proof will be in running them for real and seeing how true they are.
