I-Pilot Link battery

Upgraded from I-Pilot to I-Pilot link in 2016.
The old handset had button type batteries that lasted weeks.
The new one, with a rechargeable lithium (1200 mAh), does not seem to last long. In fact I am lucky to get a day out of it.
Tried another battery with similar results.
The charging circuit seems OK. I checked voltage on the battery after charge and it was over 4V.
I take a USB charger or power bank out with me now to top up, which it usually needs by mid afternoon.


Anyone else had same problem?

I have gen1 Ipilot Link, 24 volt , I usually only get 5 hours run time on my trolling motor batteries, but the remote batteries last the whole time.

If you pick up the Legacy Micro remote it lasts months for me( I had the legacy and now the Bluetooth). There is very little you cant do with the Micro.(follow contours). My rechargeable remote sits in the cradle plugged in till want to initiate follow the contour. Bob

Do you need a new head unit to go with the bluetooth handset?
I am guessing you do.

You just buy the Legacy version. You cannot convert to Bluetooth. The only difference with the micro remotes is how they talk with the controller.

This is great info, my remote was great the first year, then this year hardly last 4 hours. What do the newest version remote use for batteries? can they be used for older ulterra units?

Bluetooth remotes can't be used with non Bluetooth Ulterra's. I have seen some Ulterras can be updated. The new remotes have recharable and last 5 to 6 hours but depends how you set them up.(backlight settings and sleep timers) Bob
