Breaking the curse!
My dad was cursed for about 10 years. Finally caught a fat 43 inch musky on a sucker in November down here in Indiana.
There are certain bodies of water where catching skis is much easier than others. I have a few spots on Big Vermilion near Sioux Lookout where I know I will find muskies and likely catch one or two of them within a 4-5 hour span of time. I also have similar spots on Lac Seul, but that is a longer boat ride. Cedar Lake is another easier lake to catch a ski. The skis dominate the pike on that lake. Keep it up. It will happen. And you figure 8 every cast. Stick with bucktails and a Top Raider. Those **** Top Raiders work awesome, but be sure to dunk the bait down in the water when you figure 8 it. Just caught one a few weeks ago using that technique. GOOD LUCK!

Hey guys,
Well, just as an update...this past Sunday my boys and I hooked and landed a beautiful 54” Muskie! Can you believe it? The curse is over! And, not only did I get my first Muskie...but it was over the 50” mark! It is a tremendous story and memory for us. For those familiar with the St. Lawrence area out of Clayton, we were fishing the 40 acre shoal. I was marking serious fish all morning and several bait balls that seemed to be between 44 and 50 feet of water. I have done a lot of custom mapping in that area on all the trips where I have been skunked, so now, I have some really good and accurate contours that I am able to follow on my Helix 10. Anyway, water temps were 44 degrees, trolling 2.6 mph and I had a Believer out the back 175 feet in sucker pattern. At 9:20AM she hit it and the boat just exploded with activity. Tons and tons of fun! I feel really good about it because it has taken so long to get one. And the best part was that my one son, a freshman at Stony Brook, and my older son, a college hockey coach, were both with me. It was a great catch for the boat. I’ll figure out how to post a pic... The curse is over!! Tom

Here are a few pictures.
Season closes December 15th....I’m watching the weather/wind and will be taking in another trip or two before putting the boat up for the winter. Looks like the orientation is screwed up...not sure how to figure that out right now. Sorry... Tom

WOW!! Nice Musky! That thing is huge! What a way to end the season, you will remember that forever. Congratulations!
If you get out again I bet you will be trolling a Believer.

Well at least the Believer in sucker color scheme...at 2.6mph...in 46 FOW...175 feet back ...through the waypoint that marks the catch location.:rotfl
I’m gonna make at least one more trip before the season closes if not for any other reason but to spend a couple hours mapping the bottom. There is 10 lifetimes worth of water to fish at the St. Lawrence. Just an amazing and majestic fishery... Thanks for the kind words!
