Default 53 inch Muskie/Wabigoon lake

We were Walleye fishing July 19th on Wabigoon lake when we decided to go to a new reef and pull out the slip bobbers. Before putting out the bobbers we fan casted the top of the reef with #4 Gold Mepps spinners to get rid of any unwanted pike,First cast was a 10lb Pike the second cast was a 53 inch Muskie. It took about a half hour to finaly get it in,with only a walleye net i had to hand bomb it into the boat. After a few pics and a quik measurement we put her back in the water. After about 10 min she was ready to go and away she swam. Not sure how heavy it was.

Nice going! That's some good karma going back your way, after the debacle with getting the motor for your boat.

Thanks,it's been good to me so far.I was in first place day one in the Shaw cable walleye masters in Dryden with 14.90 pounds of Walleye but slipped down to sixth on day two.It really sucks when you have $20,000 in the palm of your hand and buckle under presure.Still not a bad finish out of 126 teams.Next year..... I think it might be a lucky boat.

Default Excellent Musky-

Cool story, Wabigoon has been producing some big musky. I know what you mean about those pike shutting down the walleye on a reef. I've never thought of fan casting to draw out the pike before going after walleye.

Yup!Not too many Walleye are going to stick around with big TANKS like that lurking close by.
