To each there own but I prefer braid 10 lb power pro on my panfish rigs 20 lb on everything else it is 6 to 8 lb mono size but when you get hung up in the brush a steady pull will usually straighten the hook or jig and then re-bend to get back fishing. Palomar knot seems to be the best knot from my unscientific test. Also no memory.

On my rod i like to throw crappie jigs i have been using 8lb kast king braid, it is about 1lb dia, i use hot pink because it is easy to see and then tie on a 4’ leader of 4lb mono.

On my bobber setups i run 4lb trilene xl. You want mono for float fishing, lots less tangles.

On my long dipping poles (cane pole type) i run 20lb hi-viz mono and then a 4’ leader of 8 or 10lb mono.

The trout magnet SOS line is good stuff, available in 2,4 and 6 pound test. Walmart carries it here.
