The new MEGA SI trolling motor is not an option yet on the Minn Kota website ...

The press release says ships early 2020 ...

Some dealers may be taking pre-orders ...

Unless you're moving at a good clip (trolling) side scan smears. Has this changed? If not I dont really see this as something that's going to be a huge deal for how I fish.

The ability to adjust Chart speed in HB imaging allows satisfactory imaging at very slow speeds ...

The new MEGA SI in the Minn Kotas should have similar abilities ...

What would really be good would be MEGA 360 in the trolling motor housing. That would be of much greater benefit than MEGA SI up front. You will always have to tend to the graph depending on the speed you are moving. I think they'd be better off adding it to the Terrova as many more of those owners are going to be following contours vs Ultrex guys. Doesn't matter for me right now though, getting MEGA 360 next spring to add to the first gen Ultrex.

The issue I had with this was every time I repositioned the trolling motor, the screen would reset or a line would appear and then the side imaging would begin again. It was a nuisance. I removed my transducer and went back with a 2D down scan. If you trolled straight it worked fine.

Ive had Si on the bow since 09. Yes, there are gaps, and some images get "smeared", but the information it gives me from the front of the boat is well worth the effort for me. You must get good at interpreting SI from the console at optimum scanning speeds before moving to SI from the bow. If you dont, then you will be disappointed in the image quality, but the info is there if you can read it. I call it an advanced application..

Many times I have been slipping current jigging using my SI up front and have spotted Eyes off to either side. Kick the trolling motor up slide over and slip back thru the area where SI showed the Eyes.

Crappie fishing with SI working a weed edge or timber and spot a school of Crappies away from structure suspended over open water, slide over cast fish on.

Me personally will not ever not have SI in the front

I have my side image deucer mounted to jack plate in a shield(bass boat in the timber a lot)...its stable back there and the image doesn't smear and change. upfront Id think humminbird 360 would be better, my TM is swinging left to right a lot and I wouldn't know what Im looking at. now if I trolled straight forward yeah maybe, I decided years ago not to go that route.
