I got an RTIC soft side 30 a few months back.

The zipper is a ROYAL PITA. Not sure how long it's going to last. You need both hands to zipper it open/shut. You literally need to have some strength. They do provide a small tube of lube that you are to put on the zipper but I'm not sure that is of any help. When we're on short trips out in the pontoon or what not, we'll probably just leave it unzipped. Like I said, I"m guessing I'm going to get frustrated with it enough that I'm going to yank it right off.

Hopefully yours will be better.

Have you ever put any of the lube on the zipper Stout?

When my boys were three years old they could open mine.

My only "beef" with RTIC is that they blatantly copied YETI's design which to me is a patent violation.

RTIC, Cabela's, and many others have excellent coolers with most priced lower than YETI.
I would not buy anything YETI as they are anti-2nd amendment...

I have a Yeti and a RTIC which were purchased at the same time and put on golf carts. Both have almost the exact same use as they are used at the same time.

The Yeti is still in great shape and still looks good. The RTIC is all sun faded on the top, almost cracking, and yes the zipper has always been a PITA. Lubed or not. To me the zipper's teeth are to small. Unlike the Yeti which are much larger and easier to work.

I get what you're saying but name a single product in America that makes a big splash upon entry into the market where other competitors don't try to copy the product/idea the best they can while trying to skirt around potential patent issues. Yeti and RTIC had their day in court and both companies continue to operate. At least the price of Yeti is beginning to come down some due to the competition. Walmart and many other companies are also copying the Yeti.

E-TEC outboards......

And I also will never purchase a Yeti due to their views on our 2nd Amendment.

I have several coolers including 2 Yeti's I did not buy. Received them as gifts from corporate customers. A hard side 65 and a 20. They are too heavy for day use, I save them for 2-5 days trips. Hence the popularity of the soft sides.

I purchased a Ozark Trail 30 soft and was happy until the ring on the zipper broke. The zipper still works but it is a PITA to pull zipper open or closed. Now I mostly use a Ozark Trail 20 that has a small velcro lid in the top. Super handy for reaching in and grabbing a beer or soda. I tried to go buy another but can not find any with the small opening in the top.

I will never buy anything Yeti, all overpriced and I suspect they are shifting all production to china, which in all fairness I think their competitors are already there.

I would go to RTIC or Ozark Trail (Walmart) if I had to buy another. You can't beat the convenience and price of walmart. Simple returns if needed.
