Default Brainerd MN tops Winter Fishing list

I remember a discussion on some fellows taking a South Padre Island, TX trip and also thinking I'd rather travel South than North for fishing this time of year?!

Anyhow, I thought this would be some interest to others, as well...

I find that very hard to believe. At least by actual fisherman.

Since I have never fished the area I will hold my opinion on that part but what had me concerned is the last paragraph.

"If you happen to get tired of the cold weather, visit some of the town’s galleries. Brainerd is a small town, but you wouldn’t know it from the amount of art galleries! Here, you’ll find photography, jewelry, pottery, stained glass, copper and other metalwork, and much more made by 40 artists from all around the US and beyond".

I really don't know any hardcore ice anglers even remotely interested is this.......so do I think FishingBooker really knows what ice anglers are really looking for.........I would say NO ! ! !

There might be something to the story if you take into consideration that Gull Lake gets 15,000 people one day, but I highly doubt that some guy in Georgia has ice fishing in Brainerd, MN on their bucket list of fishing trips. Gull Lake and Brainerd area has lots of upper end resorts and they are busy in the winter, but it is mostly cooperate meetings and family vacations and hardly any of them go fishing.
