My 2016 115 Merc Outboard manual has the same page in it.

I travel with my 115 resting on a trailer mounted transom saver and my Pro Kicker kicker hanging vertically.

Mea culpa! My apologies to all! I did find the same page recommending a transom saver device in my manual (2018 115 EFI). Page 22 as a matter of fact. How that slipped by me is a wonder. I will install it on Monday after the holiday.

The transom wedge is commonly used to remove stress from the rams on a motor.

If you wish, you can take a block of wood and cut the wood to essentially be the same as a commercial wedge and insert it in between the motor and the motor mount for both the main motor as well as the kicker motor during transport.

Folks have done this for many many years.

That only holds true for an E-Tec. Merc's don't follow the same rules.
Ches.

Can I legally transport a Merc or Etec outboard in a Toyota or Honda truck?

Sorry, you are right.....if it’s just a Merc take it off and toss it because it’s not worth the trouble........BTW E-TEC engines have a built in trailering support bracket......DUH
