Default New computer question

I just bought a laptop computer, and I'm wondering if it would be possible to transfer all of my email addresses at one time from my desktop computer. Anybody done this before?

I've done this several times. The process depends on which email client you have. Outlook? Thunderbird? Gmail?

My desktop has windows 7, and the new laptop has windows 10. The mail is on outlook.

Here you go. You can export them to a pst file on your desktop, transfer the file to a usb stick then import them from the USB stick into Outlook on your laptop.

If you are using outlook on your desktop to read your gmail for instance you need to make sure that you are set to pull your mail off the gmail servers locally. You can check this really easy by logging into Gmail to see if there is mail there or not. If not then you will need to also export your entire mailbox to a PST and import that onto your laptop or you will lose all of your mail history if you were to format your desktop drive.

Thank you very much! I have about 300 email addresses because my wife and I take care of our former classmates communications, and I'm on the board of our homeowners associatiion, to I use all their addresses too.

export and input is best. To make sure you do it right google the proper way to transfer emails, files, and folders you want to keep.

By doing this transfer, will that remove the email addresses from my desktop? Or is it just a copy?
