Default Nevis, Minnesota Area

Anyone here live in the Nevis, Minnesota Area? Going on a fishing trip June 5-12 to Leech Lake. Growing up my family used to go to the neighbor, who lived across the street from my families cabin on Tripp Lake in the Nevis, Minnesota area. Looking for any info on the lake now. Will be taking a ride over to look at the lake.

When we fished this small lake there were only my neighbor's and one other cabin, besides a small old run down resort on the lake. The rest of the shore was state or federal forest land. Looking for info

Anyone have any info or can put me in touch with anyone living on the lake would be appreciated

Thanks in Advance

Larry S

Larry I can’t answer your question but are you planning to fish the Leech Lake Tournament, it starts on the 5th?

"No public access... Anglers will find good numbers of bluegill, pumpkinseed, and hybrid sunfish in the 6-8 inch size range and bass in the 12-16 inch size range"

7 mag Not fishing the tournament, going to fish Leech because I can't go to my normal fishing vacation in Canada.

Fished Leech a number of times as a teenager on Family vacations, enjoyed the fishing and wanted to get out this year as the fishing itch is getting to me

I googled the tournament and it says its only June 5th to 6th Is this correct? One day seems pretty short.

Hey Larry, yes it’s a two day tournament. I’ll be fishing there Wednesday thru Saturday the 5th but I’m not competing in the tournament, looking forward to it as well.

7Mag, Have a great trip. Are you fishing out of or staying at a Resort? My sister and I are staying on East shore at Sugar Point Resort. Got the Fishing Facts Leech lake Map and will use it to check out area's. Also hired a guide for one day

If you have fished Leech, got any tips for me?

Larry, We are staying at Moore’s on agency bay. I have the same map, they did a good job putting it together. We fished in front of Sugar Point last fall and did well on northerns, got some nice perch in Boy Bay, should be able to find some crappies in Boy Bay as well. Most everyone will be using minnows for walleye but I prefer leeches and if it’s a slow bite I’ll use a leech under a bobber. Zebra muscles has slowly impacted Leech it’s much clearer than it used to be so hope for some cloud cover or fish early and late.
