Default Garage door noise???

Are you hearing rumbling, squeaks and groans when open or close your garage door/s?

If so, check all of the rollers, hinges, and pulleys.

I had awful noise as the doors went up and down.

I have two doors on the garage. Each door has 10 rollers and 4 pulleys.

I replaced all 20 metal rollers with real ball bearing centered Nylon rollers. I replaced all of the pulleys with real ball bearing centers on the pulleys. (Often the rollers and pulleys only have a bunch of ball bearings on the interior of the pulleys with no real races on each side of the balls for good long term service. )

After finishing the job, the doors open and close with barely a sound. I am sure that the load is much reduced on the opener, as well as the wear and tear on my ears from the noise.

Now, the boat, doesn't try to cover its ears when I am opening or closing the door to take it out for an outing.

Best wishes.

Hey REW, I have 3 garage door openers, all 3 identical made by Chamberlin. 2 of them have great range, I can open then with my remote from 50 yards away. One of them has far less range and is finnicky, sometimes it'll open from 30 yards, sometimes I need to be within 20 feet. What gives? how do I fix it? PS- they all have the little wire antenna that hangs from the opener.

REW what rollers did you use? have a link?
Mine are still the original steel and the bearings were shot many years ago, they are 30 years old now.

We have a solid wood panel door, the shear weight has taken it's toll on them

Steel or aluminum siding play havoc with garage door openers. And your angle to the opener with the door in the way. Also try a new transmitter and or replace the battery. If it is part of the vehicle I’m out of ideas .

REMOVE All the light bulbs from the openers and try again.

Default GD door

As long as we are talking about garage door openers......the switch located adjacent to the garage door has 3 buttons - up/down/stop....up and down work but recently the stop does not work. My openers in the truck work for for all including stop. (This is for the 14' door in my pole building).

Instead of using the non function "stop" just try hitting the "up" while the door is going down to stop it and visa versa.

An alternate but much less fun method...spray the axles and bearings/wheels with white lithium grease every few years.

Just a thought.
