MinnKota 70# PDv2 AutoPilot Flakes Out?
Bought a new Lund Impact last year and it came with a 24V MK 70# PD2 w/ AutoPilot. Usually AutoPilot works fine, but when I kick it up to speed 7+ it gets unpredictable. Sometimes it flakes out and starts spinning in circles. Has anyone else experienced this? Is it something I should take to MinnKota while it is less than 1 year old?

Terrova AP
My Terrova will do this only if I'm fishing 3-4 footers (or more) and my bow gets caught jumping up and down. I guess they have to maintain a certain degree of relationship to the horizon. In waves at or over 4', I have to troll in the general direction of the waves with AP. If I try and go against them using my main motor for propulsion and AP for steering, my bow starts jumping up and down and the Terrova will spin circles. If you're not fishing big waves, I don't know what to tell you, my AP works fine at all speeds.

Not only does the shaft/head need to stay within 5 degrees vertical.
You may be suffering a low voltage power issue, since you say it happens when you go to speed setting 7 and greater. I'd be looking into connections and wiring gauge to minimize voltage drop edit If that all checks out good and still acts up, then get the motor into the shop PRIOR to the warranty expiring. If you know anyone with a foot peddle you could use you may find out its a peddle or rule it out.
I`ve heard of the foot peddles of the new v2 design of having problems. |
