Default Mercury Pro X/S 115 prop for a 1800 Sport Angler

Just picked up a new to me 2018 Lund Sport Angler 1800 with a Merc Pro X/S 115 (7 hours on the main). Prop now is a stock aluminum 15 Pitch 3 blade. Does pretty decent 5400 rpm and about 41 mph lightly loaded. Seems like it wants to blow out a bit cornering. Interested in upgrading to a SS prop. Research shows the Spitfire x-7 4 blade props are well thought of. Question would be what pitch? Not into pulling skiers much, more fishing with some longer runs in occasionally rougher waters. 15? 17? 19? 21? Where to start if I don’t want to worry about returning a prop.

What’s the boat weight?
Would think a 17 x-7
You should be at rev limiter with a 3 blade alum 15 imo

I have a new 1775 Impact SS not a lot of size difference to your boat mine came with a 12.75 X 19P 4 blade SS prop so far it jumps on plane and runs 42.5 mph loaded with two guys hit 44 mph with only one livewell full and one guy turning 5600 RPMS so Im not maxing out the RPMs but very happy with the performance.

Boat weight of a Lund 1800 Sport Angler is listed at 1460 pounds. Pro XS 115 and Pro kicker 9.9, plus and Ulterra and two group 31 batteries probably puts it around 2000. I checked the prop and it is a 17P merc 3 blade quicksilver aluminum. I'm thinking it is between the Merc spitfire x-7 17p and 19p.

which one?

What altitude are you at?
Should be between a 15 and a 17... you’ll lose 100-150 rpms going to a 4 blade stainless from a 3 blade alum.

Our boats are similar weight I would say. I’m spinning 6-6050 at 4800’ with a 17 x7

My 2019 1775 Impact SS came wth the Spitfire X7 in 19P.

So far loaded I can pay get 4900 RPM at around 1000-1500 above sea level with 2 guys and load. Was right around 40 mph.

Me alone I can get to 5100 RPM and right at 42 MPH.

Pretty good speed, but RPMs seem a little low. I just put on the X7 in the 17 pitch to try tomorrow.

Should be good conditions for a comparison.

Sounds like your tach is off
Put your info into merc slip calculator

Tried it again today with the X7 17P prop on.

RPMs got up to 5700+

Speed dropped 2 mph, but did notice a much better hole shot.

Also, slowed a lot better when using the Troll Control to reduce RPM for trolling speeds.

Wish I had the digital dash to confirm, but pretty happy with these results.
